- Prepare 500 gm of Flour.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Baking soda.
- It's as required of Salt.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Cardamom powder.
- Prepare 3 or 4 nos of Egg.
- Prepare 250 gm of Sugar , powdered.
- It's of Oil for deep frying.
It is usually prepared adding eggs and using maida. I wanted to make it more healthy and hence tried the same. Vettu cakes are tea time snacks usually found at roadside tea stalls in southern India. - Sift together flour, salt, baking soda and cardamom powder..

- Add sifted flour and then knead very well and make a chappathi like dough..
- Cover with damp cloth and keep aside for one hour..
- Divide dough in to equal sized thick strips, cut the triangle shape and make one deep cut in the centre..
- Heat the oil in a pan and deep fry till golden brown on medium heat. Drain on paper towels and let it cool completely. You can store in air tight containers for up to 3 weeks..
The vettu cake is slightly puffier (almost cake-like), owing to the presence of. Hence its called "Vedi cake/Vettu cake". Cook till the balls turn golden color. It may be soft while you remove but it becomes hard n crispy as it cools down. Vettu cake is made with sugar, all purpose flour and eggs.
